The artwork of Bonnie Cunningham
I exhibited this installation earlier this year and will continue to expand on the piece for a show at the Dog Patch Cafe later in December. Keep checking in for updates.
This piece is in memory of my Grams, Margaret Helen DePaul, who passed two minutes pass midnight on the east coast and at 9:02pm on my birthday, October 18th 2012 pm on the west coast where I was and have been living.
She was my maternal Grandmother, and my parents, sister and myself lived with her until I was 15 years old. She always represented comfort and happiness to me. Through all of this closeness, what I have now is my interpretation of her and the ability to share that interpretation, but not her.
An abstracted Margaret DePaul is on display, an imperfect conduit between my Grandmother’s life, my interpretations of her, and the viewers' realities.
